I don't know how it ended up in my house. It's been here for quite a while, and I've used it a bit. It has a lacquer-like sheen, but I couldn't find the manufacturer even after searching. Perhaps it was purchased as a souvenir from overseas, or maybe I received it as a gift? As shown in the photos, you first pull out the thin rod and then slide the inner lid to open it. There are scratches that appear to have been made when pulling out the rod. Please see photo 5.
